Up to page 72 of transcode notes, and ripped past 3TB of media. I don't know if any of you have ever scrapbooked, assembled pics to a photo album, or have had the dubious honor of cleaning out a relative's attic or garage, but all these meditations have in common the uncanny power of taking you backwards down the timeline. It's not pure nostalgia and not escapism or fleeing the present moment to escape the pain of the present, but more an appreciation of the path we have traveled and the people who we've trod it with. People and places are to memories what song and dance are to entertainment. We are left free to color and compose from there. It is at the heart of this project - as the day I made the decision to go - was the day I cried with the thought of tossing all the wonderful moments I've shared with so many people in so many places. They deserve something more than a glib, been there and done that.  So this is a gift. Both to me because I love being involved ...

I am quite certain that this is the dumbest fucking thing that has ever popped into my brain. From out of nowhere, as I lay stretching after a low-resistance spin: "Alright, my first hour spin session of the year! Think I'll sign up for an Ironman." I can guarantee you that daily psychological counseling and or cognitive behavioral therapy would be cheaper, and probably more beneficial.  "Sure, but nowhere near as much fun."   This conversation actually took place less than an hour ago.   You see what I have too deal with around here.

Today was a busy day, I was at the Theatre at 0630 changing the marquee and setting up for our special screening of SELMA. Plan was to get the important stuff done early so I could get in a quick nap before heading back for the 1400 matinee and the following two shows. It is now 1955 and the nap never materialized. All this tedium means that I got no editing done today. I am, supposedly, off tomorrow and Wednesday where I hope to make some progress. I should do a countdown clock, number of days remaining till premiere night, Jan 1, 2026. Shit, it's going to take me, at this pace, at least twice that just to get all the media digitized. I am doomed. That fucking piece of shit trump doesn't make things any easier either.  Officially, 11 months and 11 days to go. We shall overcome.

I am late. Again. January 1 was 19 days ago. But, as the saying goes, better late than not at all. Or never. I do not like to use that word, so not at all seems the more applicable usage.  Those of you who have been following the RCVman saga for the last two decades or so, have the pretext, but in case you missed it, here is how it all started. Round about 2006 or so I was hired by a Seattle company, RacerMate, Inc, manufacturers of the CompuTrainer indoor training system, to create their new instructional videos. And to assist at various events, mostly Ironman Trithlons, doing demonstrations at the event Expos. In 2006 at the incredible Ironman Canada race weekend in Pentiction, BC, Canada, I had the idea to film the entire 112 mile one-loop bike course and show it at our booth at the Expo, sped up 75% or so, to see it all in one quick viewing. After a full day at the expo, capturing the 112 miles, and then doing post production in our Motel room, by the next morning it was ...
