Geeze, take two. I missed the deadline. Work, life, got it in the way, again. It has been a hectic year in the struggle to make a profit at out 89 year old single screen theatre. Hollywood does us little favor in their marketing to kids and Super-Hero fanboys, a reality worsened by the Streaming Platforms, the Covid hangover, the writers strike and what we now refer to as 'the over saturation of choice'. Meaning that you, as consumer have more options on ways to spend your disposable (!) income than ever before. Should you decide to come our way for one of our live music, comedy or Town Halls, the production, promotion, execution and marketing all fall under my new and upgraded job description. Meaning more work and less personal time. The personal time that one year ago meant working on THE BIG PROJECT.
All meaning, that the premiere, initially scheduled for, gasp, tomorrow, will not materialize. Sad, yes, fatal? Hardly. We'll resume with the digital transcode soon, and get back on track. Who knows, perhaps all the media I have viewed, edited, critiqued, copied, created and published will provide the foundation for a new level of quality. One can, and this one does, hope so.
Happy New Year. As I have been fond of saying in my weekly podcast, the two things I feel obligated to share with whatever audience I can muster in these challenging times are these:
1) BE KIND
2) MAKE GOOD ART
Cheers,
Kevin
